Dr Alastair Miller Dentist

Alastair graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Otago University in 1988.

Upon graduating he then worked in Hamilton and London before returning to his home town of Wellington where he worked in dental practice for close to 20 years. Alastair’s last 13 years whilst in the Wellington region was at Coastlands Dental Health on the Kapiti Coast.

Alastair moved to Tauranga in 2012 for the opportunity to join the group at The Dentists, the lifestyle the Bay of Plenty has to offer and to be closer to extended family.

He is a member of the NZDA and enjoys working in an up to date practice with state of the art equipment. Alastair relishes the opportunity to build on his 23 years of dentistry by utilising the latest technology that The Dentists offers which also benefits his patients. His aim is to always provide quality dentistry in a gentle and relaxed environment.

Outside of dentistry Alastair enjoys fishing, boating and family sporting activities.

Dr Graeme Lynam Dentist

Graeme graduated at Otago University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. After two years in general practice in South Auckland, Graeme started travelling, initially working in a mining town in outback Australia. From this isolated part of Australia, he then traveled to London. After a year, he was invited to work in London’s prestigious Harley Street and then went on to buy a Practice there. Practicing in this centre of international excellence for 15 years has increased his experience and learning considerably and has broadened the boundaries of modern dentistry.

Graeme returned to Tauranga in New Zealand with a young family in 1998 and started his new practice “Harley Dentistry”. In 2018, still passionate about dentistry after so many years, he joined “The Dentists” group. In line with the Group’s emphasis of total well being, he continues his approach of “what is best for the patient”.

Dr Sally Sun Dentist

I was born and raised in Shanghai.  I speak Mandarin and English fluently.  After finishing high school, I came to New Zealand to study dentistry at Otago University and completed my Bachelor of Dental Surgery.

I am interested in all aspects of general dentistry, from cosmetic to restorative dentistry, and root canals. I am passionate about providing preventative dental care for patients. My goal is to perform patient-centered, stress-free dental care.

During my spare time, I like travelling and watching movies. I am a fan of cute pets and I love watching pet memes & videos!

Alicia Dental Assistant

In the beginning of 2021 I moved to the beautiful Mount Maunganui from Auckland and started my job with The Dentists shortly after.

I am very passionate about working in health care as I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a love for helping people.

I love my job at The Dentists and find it very rewarding to able to build relationships with patients and working alongside the dentist to help each patient feel comfortable and welcome when working through their treatment.

Outside of work I enjoy spending my free time with friends and family, travelling, as well as staying active by going to the gym or on long walks.

Amanda Dental Assistant

I'm South African born with a passion for the medical industry. I started off in a medical pathology laboratory as a medical technician. My family and I then moved to NZ where I started my dental career as a specialised endodontic nurse in Auckland. The company I worked for played a big role in the “Smiles for the Pacific” which was an amazing experience to be part of.

My family and I then moved to Tauranga for a less “rushed” lifestyle, where I’ve had the opportunity to work with The Dentists ever since. I love being part of peoples well-being and seeing that we make a difference and how it has a huge impact on an individual. I have been blessed to work with my co-workers and consider them my day time family.

In my free time, my daughter and I foster wild kittens, travel and try our hand at baking.

I also support the IHC for people with intellectual disabilities.

Ann Maree Office Manager

I was born in Whanganui which is where my career in dentistry started. I love telling people my story when they ask me how I got into the industry. I left my office job when I became a mum and then later, worked part-time as a supermarket check-out operator, to fit around family life.

One day a customer said to me “you always have a lovely smile. I need a new dental assistant, would you be interested”? I worked for that dentist for 9 wonderful years and obtained my NZ Dental Assistant qualifications. When he retired and sold his Practice, I continued working for the new dentist for over 10 years, until moving to Tauranga in 2005 and joining Harley Dentistry as Practice Manager.

In late 2018, the dentist, Graeme sold his Practice and we joined The Dentists group. I’m proud of the amazing, supportive team that has evolved from this and I look forward to seeing them each day and helping to give our patients the best possible care we can.

The moral of my story: Always be kind and smile, it could lead to good things

PS: In my spare time, although I miss the many active sports I used to play, the last few years have been less intense, with lots of long walks and catching up with my wonderful family, grandchildren and friends.

Annette Dental Assistant

My dental life began in Wellington at the Dental Nurse training school where I graduated, then I spent 2 years in Tauranga before the Big OE.

My husband and I lived in London for many years where I worked on and off for many different Dentists in Harley Street, gaining expertise as an assistant and loving the surgical aspect of dentistry. We returned to NZ and had 3 amazing children who are now successful in their chosen fields. I've had several different jobs but the most important to me was being a mother. I returned to Tauranga from Auckland a single parent and although it was very hard at times, we all pulled through.

I met Graeme Lynam for a job interview and helped him set up Harley Dentistry and have been his loyal nurse ever since for 21 years. We are now with The Dentists and I still love the job. Having a taste of semi retirement with Covid-19, I definitely want to be working for many years to come.

My hobbies and interests include early morning walks which set me up for my day of dentistry. My partner when he can, joins me on weekend walks or we go mountain biking together. When I'm not busy I like to relax and read a book. Also spending time with my family and 4 grandchildren is very important to me and keeps me happy.

Kailey OHT

I’m Kailey, a graduate of Oral Health Therapy from Otago University.

Maintaining good oral healthcare has always been a priority for me and has inspired me to step into the field of dentistry as a career, in order to help others. My key values are to focus on a preventative approach to dental care, as well as bring a warm, friendly environment for my patients.

I grew up in beautiful Rotorua, spending a lot of my weekends coming over to Tauranga to enjoy the beach with my family. I have also lived in Christchurch and Dunedin for many years, until making the decision to move back up North where the weather is warmer.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking, going to the gym, spending time at the beach, and checking out new restaurants and cafes with friends.

Kyra Dental Assistant

I’ve been blessed to have grown up in Mount Maunganui my whole life. I’ve joined the team here at The Dentists in the beginning of 2023, and I absolutely love my job as a Dental Assistant.

I am very passionate about helping others especially in taking care of their health and well-being. The team here are so friendly and welcoming, which has made my experience here extremely enjoyable with such a positive work environment.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, training at the gym, going for walks at our beautiful beach, hiking to waterfalls, and camping.

Nicola Dental Assistant

I'm Nikki, a U.K import. I emigrated with my family of 4 some 40yrs ago to beautiful NZ and never looked back. I grew up in Auckland (North Shore) and moved to the stunning BOP with my daughter in 2017.

Upon leaving school I started working as a Nurse Aid in private Retirement homes and Geriatric Hospitals for 2yrs and thoroughly enjoyed helping the elderly, spending time with them and listening to their life stories. It was from there I started my Dental Nursing journey in 1990.

Over the years I have worked with some amazing people and made some lifelong friends. I’m a people person so this career path suited me down to the ground. I love the variety and challenges my role provides, but most of all I enjoy being part of a fantastic team at The Dentists and the processes of providing a welcoming, exceptional service that the patients will remember with a smile.

In my spare time I enjoy exploring new places, experimenting with new dishes in the kitchen & staying fit getting outdoors with our pooch for a walk/run, I also enjoy the odd game of Squash & bike rides and gym classes.
